I'm Josh, also known as Jodhus. Adequate husband, passable father, functional systems administrator.
Things that make me happy:
- I'm into #retrocomputing. I'm quite nostalgic for the #c64 and #amiga computers I owned as a child.
- My father introduced me to #linux and #openbsd in the late 90's and I've used them both ever since. He was also instrumental in encouraging the concepts of #security and #privacy to me at an early age.
- My way of giving back to my friends/family/community is by #selfhosting and offering various services to them, including services that promote #federation.
- I like to tinker with #python and #rust programming, leading to questionable results.
- I find humor in almost anything and tend to not be offended by much; however, I will explode into fits of giggles for #nonsequitur and #snarky humor. I am a big fan of #mst3k and #rifftrax.
- I love most genres of music, but I'm not a fan of pop and modern country.
- I used to have lots of fun with #nightphotography back when my camera was state-of-the-art, but have not had the chance in nearly two decades.
- The way to my heart is through #thaifood, #sushi, and most other Asian cuisine.

Thanks! I really enjoy Microblog.pub, but it's not without its rough edges at the moment. It's being actively developed by one person (with some of us pitching in when we think we can be helpful) and he's been very communicative and helpful. That said, it does not support the Mastodon API so you can't use any fediverse app with it yet. If that doesn't scare you away, then I highly support trying it out!
That absolutely doesnt scare me. Ive been using web interface for years now. Mobile and desktop.
I do wonder about moderation though. The documentation doesnt cover anything about that. How hard is it to regulate posts? Havent looked at the code yet.
Im going to try to find ~tsileo as well as follow the official account. @dev
Its so cool to see small platforms rising up on fedi like @gotosocial@superseriousbusiness.org and microblog! Power to the people!
Lightweight software means more single-user instances being run at home!!!
@twizzay@thisis.mylegendary.quest @dev@microblog.pub for moderation you can block users and locally delete posts so they stop showing up in your thread. Server blocks are handled in the config file. Muting threads isn’t implemented yet, but I believe it was on the list of things to tackle.
@delimiter Welcome! Since you are into #retrogaming you maybe interested then in https://megastyle.itch.io/.
Bruce Lee - Return Of Fury looks good, but I haven't played it yet.
@adamsdesk@fosstodon.org Bruce Lee for the #c64 was my favorite game on the system. Thanks for sharing!
I really like your ActivityPub instance.
Microblog.pub looks very attractive to me. I like lightweight things and this looks to be the lightest fedi software I have ever seen.
How do you like using it?
Also, we have a lot in common:
- retro
- python
- nonsequiturs and snark
- self hosting.
